My Journey Started in 2013 playing Varsity Football at Rosemont High (Sacramento, CA). I was a Junior at the time and knew nothing about weightlifting. Coming into the weight room the first week of our work outs I was intimidated and nervous. I was 5ā€™10 weighing in at 140 pounds. I did not have the ideal Athleticism & Physique for a football player. I overcame my fears and changed my mentality with the help of coaches and veteran players on the team. They pushed me farther than I ever thought I could and progressively became a better athlete in the two years of my high school career.

In 2017, I decided to take a risk and partake in collegiate football and also work at a gym as a personal trainer assistant. It did feel amazing to step back on the field and I felt rejuvenated. The long academic days, hard work, the feeling right after working out then getting ready to head out for practice in a few hours. Everyday I soaked it all in because this was a one time experience that could never be done again. Junior College football is no joke, there are a lot of young men who take this route and this journey is not for the weak. During my years at Sacramento City College my friend/co-worker Zack was coaching me the proper technique on how to squat, bench, and deadlift. He also gave me a brief introduction to powerlifting and this was a point in my life where my passion for lifting grew exponentially. Without his knowledge I would probably have a few broken body parts. The life lessons I have received from the game of football and from my coaches and brothers will never be forgotten.

Fast forward to 2022 Iā€™m currently attending Sacramento State pursuing my BS in Criminal justice while self educating myself in regards to fitness/health. I am also doing a Strength and Conditioning internship in which I will be working with D1 athletes. My passion for exercise and health is strong. I wish to continue to expand my knowledge on this subject and help others.

Consistency and commitment play a major role. Having these two traits will ultimately push past your limits without you even realizing it. Set yourself up for success and practice good habits. It does not have to be one huge step to where you may be closer to your goal/destination. Small baby steps will create the foundation thus lead to where you want to be. Each day brings in a new opportunity to push yourself so use your day accordingly.

We are all capable of getting better by 1 percent. Show up and take advantage of the 24 hours we have within a day. Getting better by 1 percent can be anything. Learning how to replace a flat tire, teaching an individual the fundamentals of a sport, prepping food for the week, self-care, practicing good daily habits, etc. If we can be more efficient with our time then we can do many things. We are all amazing human beings capable of being great.

From an academic viewpoint I would love to finish the Spring semester with a 4.0 GPA while balancing my internship and work schedule. Outside of academics my main goal is to Improve on becoming a better boyfriend and consistently use the tools/knowledge at my disposal to not only better myself but others as well.
